Adult Programs FAQ

General Policies

This FAQ answers common questions about Momentum Volleyball adult leagues, tournaments, clinics, and drop-ins.

Please note: Program pages may include different dates, times, formats, skill levels, roster limits, or venue instructions. If a program page differs from this FAQ, the program page takes priority.

Venue rules: Some rules differ between The York School (TYS) and Toronto Volleyball Centre (TVC), so always check the venue-specific section below.

Need help? Email [email protected].

What happens if there is a weather issue or facility closure?
If a facility issue, permit change, weather issue, or other operational problem affects a program, Momentum may reschedule, modify, postpone, or cancel the affected session. Updates will be shared by email or through the most recent program communication.

Quick Answers

Do I need a full team to register?
No. Some programs allow team registration, while others also allow individual registration or substitute sign-up. Always check the specific program page for the available registration options.

What shoes do I need?
Wear indoor-only court shoes. Outdoor shoes, sandals, and bare feet are not allowed.

Can I bring a spectator?
It depends on the venue. Spectators are not allowed at The York School. At Toronto Volleyball Centre, spectators must stay outside the cage.

What happens if my team is late?
Programs and league matches start at the listed session time. Late penalties apply in league play. If your team is too late, you may start behind, forfeit a set, or forfeit the full match depending on how late you are. Momentum staff on site will provide direction and next steps based on how late the team is.

Where do I find schedules and standings?

What adult programs does Momentum Volleyball offer?
Momentum Volleyball offers adult leagues, tournaments, clinics, and drop-ins. Leagues are best for players who want a consistent weekly team experience, tournaments are event-based competitions, clinics focus on skill development, and drop-ins offer flexible play without a full-season commitment.

Which program should I choose?
Choose a league if you want a recurring team-based season, a tournament if you want a single event or short competition format, a clinic if you want coaching and skill development, and a drop-in if you want flexible play without a long-term commitment. If you are unsure, review the program description on the registration page or contact [email protected].

How do I choose my league skill level?
Skill levels may vary by league, but general examples can help. Intermediate leagues are for players who understand the basics and can keep rallies going. Intermediate Plus leagues are often for teams using more structured systems with multiple attacking options. Advanced leagues are typically for players with strong experience in high-level league play. Always read the specific league description before registering, and contact [email protected] if you are unsure.

What happens if a program is full?
If a league, clinic, tournament, or drop-in is full, check the program page for waitlist instructions or other registration directions. If no waitlist information is listed, that program does not provide a waitlist option and customers can contact [email protected] for potential registration directions.

Do I need volleyball experience to join an adult program?
Not always. Some adult programs are beginner-friendly, while others are intended for more experienced players. If you are new to volleyball, look for beginner clinics or beginner-friendly drop-ins on the program page. If you are unsure, contact [email protected] and we can help guide you.

Beginners

I have never played volleyball before. Where should I start?
Beginner clinics and beginner-friendly drop-ins are the best place to start. These options are more suitable for brand-new players than joining a higher-level league right away.

Do I need to contact Momentum before registering as a beginner?
No. If you are ready to register, you can sign up directly for a beginner clinic or beginner-friendly drop-in. If you have questions first, we are happy to help guide you.

What kinds of questions can I ask if I am new?
You can contact us with questions about skill level, what program to choose, what to wear, what to bring, what the experience will be like, and whether a first-timer offer may be available.

Will I slow other players down if I am a beginner?
That depends on the program. Beginner clinics and beginner-friendly drop-ins are designed to be more welcoming for newer players. Higher-level programs may expect more experience, which is why checking the program description is important.

Do beginners need their own team?
Not always. Many beginner-friendly options are designed for individual registration, especially clinics and drop-ins. Always check the specific program page for how registration works.

Is there a discount for first-time players?
There may be first-timer discounts, beginner incentives, or introductory offers depending on the program. If you want to ask about current offers before registering, contact [email protected].

Can I register with a friend or request to play with someone?
It depends on the program format. Team-based programs may allow players to register together, while other programs may place players based on registration structure, capacity, or event format. If you have a specific request, contact [email protected] before registering when possible.

What should I know before my first session?
Check the program page for the correct venue, start time, skill level, and any special instructions. Registration, waivers, and required paperwork are completed online before arrival. You may arrive up to 15 minutes early to change and get ready, but sessions begin on time.

Leagues

Can I join as a team, captain, or substitute?
Yes, if those registration or participation options are offered for the specific league. Some adult leagues offer team registration, individual registration, and a Player/Captain/Sub Form. If a league is full, check the league page for available options such as a waitlist or any posted find-a-sub resources. Always follow the registration and eligibility options shown on the specific league page for that season.

What is the team captain responsible for?
Team captains are generally expected to help coordinate registration, communicate program information to teammates, and make sure the team understands the schedule, roster expectations, and applicable rules. If a specific league page or registration process assigns additional captain responsibilities, those instructions should be followed.

How do adult leagues work?
Adult leagues run year-round, with seasons varying by venue, day, and level. Most leagues run for 10 consecutive weeks unless a closed date is posted. Format also varies by season. Always check the specific league page for dates, match structure, start times, and any posted closed dates.

How early can I arrive for league play?
Participants may arrive up to 15 minutes before the listed start time to change and get ready. League matches begin at the time they are scheduled to start, so teams should be ready to play on time.

Can league teams track scores and standings?
Yes. Adult league teams can track scores and standings through the league information provided on momentumvolleyball.ca. Follow the league page for the most current season details and results.

How does league scoring work?
In regular-season league play, teams receive 1 point for each set won. Scores and schedules are typically updated within a few days of league matches, and tie-breaks are determined by points-for versus points-against differential unless a specific league page states otherwise.

Are standings and playoffs based on match wins or sets won?
Unless a specific league page says otherwise, regular-season standings are based on set points, with teams receiving 1 point for each set won. Tie-breaks are determined by points-for versus points-against differential.

How do teams qualify for playoffs?
Playoff qualification depends on the format of the specific league and the standings for that season. Unless the league page says otherwise, teams should assume that regular-season results affect playoff placement or eligibility.

Are all league formats the same at every venue?
No. League format may vary by venue, day, level, and season. Always follow the format, dates, match structure, and start times shown on the specific league page.

How many players do we need for league play?
Adult league teams need at least 4 players to start a match. Teams may start with 5 players by using the ghost server rule. All co-ed leagues require a minimum of 2 male and 2 female players on the court at all times during gameplay. The maximum on-court ratio is 4:2 in either direction, meaning teams cannot play with 5 or 6 players of the same gender on the court. If a league page or registration listing states a different roster rule, follow that program-specific instruction.

Can my team warm up on the court before our match?
Warm-up access may depend on the venue schedule, court availability, and the timing of the program. Teams should not assume extended warm-up time will be available. Be ready to play at the scheduled start time and follow any direction provided on site. Ball warm-up is not permitted while matches are in play.

What happens if my team does not have enough players for a full season?
Teams are responsible for maintaining enough eligible players throughout the season. If your team is short players, follow the substitute or roster guidance on the program page and contact Momentum Volleyball if you need help with eligibility or roster updates.

What should I do if a league is full or my team needs a substitute?
If a league is full, join the waitlist if that option is posted on the league page. If your team needs a substitute, follow any sub-finding instructions listed on the website, including any league-specific player, captain, or substitute forms and community resources. Substitute players are allowed for league teams.

Tournaments

How do tournaments work?
Adult tournaments typically use pool play followed by playoffs. Team captains usually receive the schedule by email 1 to 2 days before the event. Unless the event page says otherwise, teams may have up to 8 players, rosters should stay consistent throughout the event, and liberos are allowed.

Do adult tournaments register teams or individuals?
Adult tournaments are generally set up for team registration. Always check the specific tournament page to confirm the registration format, division, roster limits, and any team requirements before registering.

How do I know which tournament division is right for my team?
Always follow the division and skill-level description shown on the specific tournament page. As a general guide, Intermediate divisions are for teams consistently using three contacts with an understanding of rotations and positions, Intermediate Plus divisions are for teams using more structured systems with multiple attacking options, and Advanced divisions are for teams with strong high-level playing experience.

How many matches should teams expect in a tournament?
Tournament format may vary by event, but some adult tournaments guarantee a minimum number of matches and use preliminary timed matches followed by playoffs. Always review the specific tournament page for the format that applies to your event.

Do co-ed tournaments have on-court gender requirements?
Yes. All co-ed tournaments require a minimum of 2 male and 2 female players on the court at all times during gameplay. The maximum on-court ratio is 4:2 in either direction, meaning teams cannot play with 5 or 6 players of the same gender on the court.

When will I receive the tournament schedule?
The tournament schedule is provided to team captains by email 1 to 2 days before the tournament date.

What if a tournament is sold out?
If a tournament is sold out, follow the event page for any waitlist, alternate division, or registration guidance. Do not assume a spot will be held without completed registration and payment.

When is tournament registration confirmed?
A tournament spot should not be considered confirmed until registration and payment are completed in accordance with the event page. If you are unsure whether your team is confirmed, contact [email protected] before the event.

Should tournament teams plan to stay for the full event?
Yes. Tournament teams should generally expect to remain available for the full event window unless the event format or final standings clearly end their participation earlier. Do not assume your team will be finished after pool play.

Clinics

What should I expect from an adult clinic?
Clinics are instructor-led sessions designed to help players improve specific skills such as serving, passing, setting, attacking, blocking, or game strategy. Depending on the clinic, the session may include drills, technical instruction, partner work, and controlled gameplay. Clinic formats can vary, so players should review the session description when registering.

Are clinics only for beginners?
No. Clinics may be offered for different skill levels and may focus on specific techniques or game situations. Always review the clinic description to make sure it matches your experience level and goals.

Can I take the same clinic more than once?
In many cases, yes. Players may choose to repeat a clinic if they want more practice with the same skill area, but availability and program structure may vary by session.

Do you offer team technical clinics or group clinic options?
Yes. Momentum may offer team technical clinics or group clinic options at The York School or Toronto Volleyball Centre. Availability may vary, so contact [email protected] for current options and details.

Are there clinic discounts or special payment requirements?
Some adult technical clinic offerings may include team discounts for current league members or program-specific payment requirements. If a clinic page includes payment deadlines, full-payment rules, or team discount details, those terms apply to that clinic registration.

What happens if I miss a clinic?
Unless a specific clinic page says otherwise, players should not assume that missed clinic sessions can be made up, transferred, or credited. Review the program page for the clinic you registered for, and contact [email protected] if you need help.

Drop-Ins

How do drop-ins work?
Adult drop-ins are flexible, individual-registration sessions with minimal commitment. Sessions typically use a 2-games-on, 1-game-off rotation and continue until time runs out. Format, level, venue, and capacity may vary by listing, so always check the specific drop-in page before registering. Unless a drop-in page says otherwise, drop-ins are non-refundable and non-transferable.

How do I know which adult drop-in level is right for me?
Always follow the level listed on the specific drop-in page. As a general guide, beginner or recreational drop-ins are best for players who are learning the foundations of the game, while intermediate and intermediate plus drop-ins are better for players who are already comfortable with rallies, rotations, and more structured play. If you are unsure, contact [email protected] before registering.

Are adult drop-ins offered on a regular schedule?
Yes. Adult drop-ins may run on recurring weekly schedules, but the exact day, time, venue, and level can change by season. For example, some drop-ins may run on weekday evenings at Toronto Volleyball Centre or on weekends at The York School. Always check the live drop-in page for the current schedule.

Can I come to a drop-in by myself?
Yes, unless a specific drop-in listing says otherwise. Drop-ins are generally designed so individual players can join and rotate into play based on the session format.

What if a drop-in session is sold out?
If a drop-in session is sold out, follow the live drop-in page for any alternate session or registration guidance. Do not assume walk-in space will be available unless the page says so.

What happens if I arrive late to a drop-in?
If you arrive late, you may miss part of the session and should not assume extra time, special placement, or a refund will be available. Join the session only as directed by staff and the current court rotation.

Do drop-in schedules, levels, or closed dates vary?
Yes. Adult drop-ins may be offered on different days, at different venues, and at different skill levels depending on the season. Some dates may also be closed for holidays or facility availability. Always review the current drop-in listing for the exact session time, level, location, and any posted closed dates before attending.

Rules and Conduct

What does self-officiated mean?
All games are self-officiated, which means players are responsible for making their own calls honestly and respectfully. If there is a disputed call, teams have 10 seconds to resolve it. If there is still no agreement, the result is a re-serve.

What happens if there is a dispute that cannot be resolved during play?
Games are self-officiated, and players are expected to resolve disputes respectfully. If there is a disputed call, teams have 10 seconds to resolve it. If no agreement is reached, the result is a re-serve. Repeated abusive disputes or poor conduct may lead to warnings or removal.

What gameplay rules are enforced?
Back-row attack violations and net violations are enforced in all programs. There is no maximum limit on consecutive serves, so a player may continue serving until their team loses the rally.

What is your sportsmanship and conduct policy?
Momentum Volleyball has zero tolerance for unsportsmanlike conduct, unsafe play, harassment, or repeated abusive disputes. Players are expected to communicate respectfully, make honest calls, and follow venue rules and staff direction. Momentum may issue a warning, remove a player from a session, or apply further restrictions at its discretion.

Rosters and Substitutes

What is the ghost server rule?
If a team starts with 5 players instead of 6, the team may still play, but it loses the point whenever the missing sixth position rotates to serve.

What happens if my team is late?
If your team is 5 minutes late, the game starts at 0-10. If your team is 10 minutes late, the first set is forfeited. If your team is 20 minutes late, the second set starts at 0-10 after the first-set forfeit. If your team is 25 minutes late, the full match is forfeited.

What happens if a team forfeits?
If a team is too late to play or cannot field enough eligible players under the applicable rules, the match may be forfeited. Late penalties and roster requirements still apply. Always review the specific league page for any format-specific forfeit rules.

What if an individual player arrives late?
A late player may enter at the next dead ball. There is no on-court warm-up once play is underway.

Can someone play if they are not on the roster?
No. Players who are not on the roster cannot participate until they have registered through [email protected].

Can we add players or update a roster after registration?
Roster changes, player additions, and eligibility questions should be sent to [email protected]. Do not assume a player is eligible until Momentum confirms the change or registration requirement.

Arrival

When should I arrive?
Participants may arrive up to 15 minutes before the listed start time to change and get ready. Programs begin at the listed start time, so participants should be ready to play on time.

Where do I check in?
Follow the instructions on your program page or any registration email you received. Registration, waivers, and required paperwork are completed online before the program, so there is no additional paperwork to complete on site. If no separate check-in instructions are provided, arrive ready to play and follow any direction given by Momentum staff or the facility.

What should I have ready when I arrive?
Be ready with your indoor court shoes and any program information you may need to reference, such as your venue, start time, or team details. Registration, waivers, and required paperwork should already be completed online before arrival. Participants may arrive up to 15 minutes early to change and get ready, but sessions begin on time.

Where should I put my bag, shoes, or personal items?
Keep personal belongings off the playing surface and out of active court areas. Use benches, designated storage areas, or other permitted spaces as directed by the venue or staff.

Locations

Where do adult programs take place?
Adult programs may take place at The York School (TYS) or Toronto Volleyball Centre (TVC). Always check your specific program page, registration confirmation, or latest program email for the correct venue before arriving.

Why is it important to check the exact venue and entrance before I leave?
Adult programs may run at different venues, so always check the current program page and your latest communication before travelling so you arrive at the correct location on time. For programs at The York School, use the entrance on Farnham Avenue on the north side of the school building. For programs at Toronto Volleyball Centre, use the main Hangar entrance.

The York School (TYS)

What should I know about playing at The York School (TYS)?
No spectators are allowed at TYS. Do not place items or water bottles on the bleachers or directly behind the courts. One foot on the service line is allowed, but two feet over the line is a violation. One ceiling contact stays in play, but contact with walls, partitions, or basketball nets is out of play. Use the Farnham Avenue entrance on the north side of the building.

Toronto Volleyball Centre (TVC)

What should I know about playing at Toronto Volleyball Centre (TVC)?
Only customers may enter the playing area, and spectators must remain outside the cage. Foot faults are not allowed on serve. Any contact with the walls or ceiling is out of play. Toronto Volleyball Centre is inside The Hangar Sports & Events Centre, and you should use the main Hangar entrance.

Can I bring a guest or spectator?
Spectator rules depend on the venue. At TYS, spectators are not allowed. At TVC, spectators must remain outside the cage. If a facility or staff member gives additional instructions on site, follow those instructions.

Where can I find parking, access, or transit details?
For The York School, use the entrance on Farnham Avenue on the north side of the school building. Street parking on Farnham Avenue and nearby residential streets is generally available during certain evening and weekend hours where permitted by posted signs. There is also a Green P nearby on Rosehill Avenue. St. Clair subway station is about a 10-minute walk to the school, and Summerhill station is also about a 10-minute walk depending on your route. For Toronto Volleyball Centre, parking is free in the lot surrounding the building, and Downsview Park is the closest subway station at about a 12-minute walk. Always review the program page for the most current venue instructions.

What to Wear and Bring

What should I wear and bring?
Wear indoor-only court shoes and sports-appropriate attire at all times. Sandals, outdoor shoes, and bare feet are not allowed. Keep food and drinks off the court, and store personal items away from courts and benches. You do not need to bring a volleyball.

Are food, alcohol, or outside beverages allowed at the venue?
Food and drinks are not allowed on the court, and venue-specific rules must always be followed. Customers should not assume outside food, alcohol, or beverages are permitted in playing areas or spectator areas unless the venue explicitly allows them.

Do I need to bring my own volleyball?
No. We provide volleyballs for our adult programs. Only Momentum or TVC volleyballs may be used during play, and personal volleyballs are not allowed.

Registration and Refunds

How do I register and pay?
Registration is online only through momentumvolleyball.ca. We do not accept on-site payments. Waivers and required paperwork are completed online during registration.

How do I know if my registration went through?
Check for a confirmation email, receipt, or registration confirmation from the platform used for the program. If you are unsure whether your registration was completed successfully, contact [email protected] before the program starts.

What should I do if I do not receive a confirmation email?
First check your junk or spam folder and any account you may have used during registration. If you still do not see a confirmation, contact [email protected] with your details as soon as possible.

Do I need to complete a waiver?
Yes. Participation is subject to Momentum Volleyball's applicable waiver and registration requirements. Waivers and required paperwork are completed online during registration, so there is no additional waiver or paperwork to complete on site.

Can I join a waitlist, transfer my registration, or switch programs?
Waitlist, transfer, and program-switch options may vary by program. Check the specific program page first. If the page does not answer your question, contact [email protected] before assuming a transfer, switch, or waitlist spot is available.

Can I switch from one skill level to another after registering?
Skill-level changes may not always be available after registration. If you think you registered for the wrong level, contact Momentum Volleyball as soon as possible. Any change depends on availability and the terms of the specific program.

What if I am injured before or during the season?
If you are injured, contact Momentum Volleyball as soon as possible. Any refund, credit, transfer, or other accommodation depends on the program terms and any written guidance provided by Momentum. Customers should not assume that injuries automatically create an exception to the posted policy.

Do you combine teams or move players to balance a league?
League organization, division setup, and any balancing decisions are determined by Momentum Volleyball based on registration numbers, format, and program needs. If adjustments are needed before or during the season, Momentum will communicate them to affected participants.

How do refunds, credits, transfers, and discounts work?
Unless a specific program page says otherwise, Momentum's posted refund policy applies. Registration is refundable in full if Momentum cannot confirm your registration; refundable in full minus credit card fees if requested by email more than 2 months before the program start date; refundable up to 50% minus credit card fees if requested by email more than 1 month before the start date; and refundable up to 25% minus credit card fees if requested by email up to 2 weeks before the first day of the program. There are no refunds within 2 weeks of the program start date. Returning league individuals receive $20 off, returning league teams receive $100 off, and teams returning for 3 or more consecutive league seasons receive $150 off.

What happens if I cancel my registration?
If you cancel your registration, any refund, credit, transfer, rescheduling option, or other adjustment, if any, will be determined strictly in accordance with the applicable program terms and any written confirmation provided by Momentum. Requests made after a stated deadline, after the program has started, or after capacity has been committed may be denied. Submitting a cancellation request does not create an entitlement to an exception.

What if Momentum cannot confirm my registration?
If Momentum cannot confirm your registration, your registration fee is refundable in full.

When might a registration be non-refundable, non-transferable, or ineligible for credit?
A registration may be final sale or otherwise ineligible for refund, credit, transfer, rescheduling, or other adjustment if the applicable program page says so, if the request is made after a posted deadline, if the program has started, if a roster position or event capacity has been reserved, or if the customer does not attend. Customers are responsible for reviewing the applicable terms before completing registration.

How are approved refunds, credits, or other registration adjustments handled?
If Momentum approves a refund, credit, transfer, rescheduling request, or other registration adjustment, it will be processed in accordance with the applicable program terms, the registration platform, and any written direction provided by Momentum. Processing timelines may vary. Where permitted by the applicable terms, Momentum may issue a credit, transfer, rescheduling option, or other adjustment instead of a refund. Any approved refund will be returned to the original method of payment unless otherwise required by the applicable platform or terms.

Can refunds or credits be processed on site?
No. Refunds and credits cannot be processed on site. Follow the refund or program instructions on the relevant page, and email [email protected] if you need help.

Are make-up sessions offered if I miss a program?
No. Momentum does not offer make-up sessions for missed dates unless a specific program page expressly says otherwise. Program fees apply to the full registered program or season and are not calculated day-by-day or session-by-session. Refunds will not be granted for missed sessions or early departure from a program.

What happens if Momentum cancels a session or event?
If Momentum cancels a session, event, or program, any refund, credit, rescheduling option, replacement session, or other remedy will be determined by Momentum in accordance with the nature of the cancellation, the format of the program, and the applicable program terms. Unless required by the applicable terms or otherwise confirmed by Momentum in writing, a cancellation by Momentum does not automatically entitle a customer to a refund.

If your athlete is brand new to volleyball, beginner-friendly clinics, VolleyPlus, or Athlete Development programs are usually the best place to start. These options are designed to build confidence, introduce core skills, and help athletes enjoy learning the game.

What is the difference between youth clinics and technical training?
Youth Technical Training offers weekly sessions focused on building core skills, confidence, and technique over time. Youth Clinics are single-day sessions designed to boost skills and confidence through focused, high-energy training.

What are youth camps?
Youth Camps are a longer-format training option that may be a good fit for athletes who want more total court time and a broader development experience. Some full-day camps may also include resource sessions or guest leaders focused on health and athlete education.

What is the difference between camps, clinics, and technical training?
Clinics are single-day sessions. Technical Training is weekly and designed for recurring skill development over time. Camps are longer-format programs and may offer a broader development experience. Camp formats run daily and may be either full day or half day, depending on the program. Families should choose based on schedule, experience level, and whether they want a one-day option, weekly training, or a camp format.

What youth program levels does Momentum Volleyball offer?
Momentum Volleyball offers several youth pathways. VolleyPlus is for younger athletes looking for a fun introduction to volleyball and other activities. Athlete Development is for athletes who want to improve their skills and learn how to play the game. Competitive Training is for athletes preparing for tryouts and stronger seasons, usually after choosing volleyball as a primary sport. High Performance is intended for competitive players only and is best suited to athletes who are already strongly committed to volleyball. Always review the specific program description, grade range, and level notes before registering.

Is High Performance right for every athlete?
No. High Performance is intended for competitive players only and is generally best suited to athletes who are already strongly committed to volleyball as their main sport.

Which program is best for a beginner versus a competitive athlete?
For beginners, VolleyPlus and Athlete Development are usually the best starting points. Competitive Training is better suited to athletes preparing for tryouts and stronger seasons. High Performance is designed for experienced competitive players, not for every athlete.

What skills will athletes work on?
Depending on the program, athletes may work on core technique, confidence, game play, and tactical decision-making. Programs are designed to help athletes build skills and apply them in play.

What should parents or guardians check before registering?
Check the specific program page for the athlete’s grade range, level, venue, dates, and format. The best fit usually depends on the athlete’s age, experience, and goals.

Are athletes grouped by age or level?
Program structure varies by listing, so families should always rely on the specific registration page for the final answer. In general, youth offerings are organized by age, grade, and level, with beginner-friendly options for newer athletes and more advanced pathways for athletes preparing for competitive seasons.

Who coaches Momentum youth programs?
Momentum youth programs may include instruction from professional and varsity athletes, as well as professional, collegiate, and national-level coaches. Depending on the program, sessions may focus on skill development, game play, tactical decision-making, and athlete development in a supportive learning environment.

How do attendance and missed sessions work?
Program fees apply to the full registered program, not day by day or session by session. Unless a specific program page says otherwise, missed sessions are not made up, transferred, or credited. Athletes may arrive up to 15 minutes before the listed start time to get ready, and sessions begin right at the scheduled start time.

Are camps full-day, half-day, or single-day?
Format depends on the specific program listing. Always use the registration page for the exact daily schedule, start time, finish time, and format.

When should I arrive?
Athletes may arrive up to 15 minutes before the listed start time to change and get ready. Programs start right at the time the session is listed as starting, so participants should be ready to begin on time.

Where do I check in?
Follow the instructions on your program page or in your registration email. If no separate check-in instructions are provided, athletes may arrive up to 15 minutes before the start time, get changed, and be ready to begin when the session starts.

What should I have ready when I arrive?
Be ready with indoor court shoes, sports-appropriate attire, water, and any program details you may need to reference, such as the venue and start time. Registration, waivers, and required paperwork are completed online during registration, so there is no additional paperwork to do on site.

Where should I put my bag, shoes, or personal items?
Keep personal belongings off the playing surface and out of active court areas. Use benches, designated storage areas, or other permitted spaces as directed by the venue or staff.

Where do youth programs take place?
Youth programs may take place at The York School (TYS) and Toronto Volleyball Centre (TVC). Always check your specific program page for the correct venue, entrance instructions, schedule, and any location-specific rules before arriving.

Why is it important to check the exact venue and entrance before I leave?
Youth programs may run at different venues and may use different entrances depending on the program or facility setup. Always check the current program page and your latest communication before travelling so you arrive at the correct place on time.

What should I know about playing at The York School (TYS)?
No spectators are allowed at TYS. Nothing may be placed on the bleachers, and water bottles are not allowed on the bleachers or directly behind the courts. One foot on the service line is allowed, but two feet over the line is a violation. One ceiling contact stays in play, but ball contact with walls, partitions, or basketball nets is out of play. Only Momentum-labeled balls should be used for warm-up and game play. Players should not chase balls outside the playable area. Enter on the northeast corner of the building at the corner of Farnham Avenue and Yonge Street. There is a staircase running upstairs from Farnham Avenue to the north side of the building, which is the main entrance for programs at the school. Always follow the instructions on the specific program page and any signs at the venue.

What should I know about playing at Toronto Volleyball Centre (TVC)?
Spectators must remain outside the cage, and only customers may enter the playing area. At TVC, foot faults are not allowed on serve. Any contact with the walls or ceiling is out of play. Toronto Volleyball Centre is located inside The Hangar Sports & Events Centre. Enter through the main Hangar doors, then walk left past the ball hockey rink to reach the volleyball courts. Parking is free in the lot surrounding the building.

Can I bring a guest or spectator?
Spectator rules depend on the venue. At TYS, spectators are not allowed. At TVC, spectators must remain outside the cage. If a facility or staff member gives additional instructions on site, follow those instructions.

Where can I find parking, access, or transit details?
For The York School, there are parking options throughout the neighbourhood and along Yonge Street in the evenings, including nearby Green P lots, churches, and private garages. St. Clair subway station is about a 4-minute walk north of the school, and Summerhill station is about a 10-minute walk south. For Toronto Volleyball Centre, parking is free in the lot surrounding the building, and Downsview Park is the closest subway station at about a 12-minute walk. Always review the program page for the most current venue instructions.

What should participants wear and bring?
Please wear indoor-only court shoes and sports-appropriate attire at all times. Sandals, outdoor shoes, and bare feet are not allowed. Food and drinks must stay off the court, and personal items should be stored away from courts and benches. Follow the specific program page if it includes any additional equipment instructions.

How do I register and pay?
Registration is online only through momentumvolleyball.ca. Payment, waivers, and required registration paperwork are completed online during registration. We do not accept on-site payments, including cash or card.

How do I know if my registration went through?
Check for a confirmation email, receipt, or registration confirmation from the platform used for the program. If you are unsure whether your registration was completed successfully, contact [email protected] before arriving, since all registration, waiver, and required paperwork must be completed online in advance.

What should I do if I do not receive a confirmation email?
First check your junk or spam folder and any account you may have used during registration. If you still do not see a confirmation, contact [email protected] with your details as soon as possible.

Do I need to complete a waiver?
Yes. Any required waiver is completed online during registration. Participants should make sure their registration is fully completed before attending, and there is no additional waiver or paperwork to complete on site.

How do refunds, credits, transfers, and discounts work?
Unless a specific program page states otherwise, Momentum's posted refund policy applies as follows: your registration fee is refundable in full if Momentum cannot confirm your registration; refundable in full minus credit card fees if a written request is received by email more than 2 months before the program start date; refundable up to 50% minus credit card fees if a written request is received by email more than 1 month before the program start date; and refundable up to 25% minus credit card fees if a written request is received by email up to 2 weeks before the first day of the registered program. There are no refunds within 2 weeks of a program's start date. Registrations made within those deadlines are immediately subject to the same policy. If a refund is approved, it will be refunded to the original method of payment.

What happens if I cancel my registration?
If you cancel your registration, any refund, credit, transfer, rescheduling option, or other adjustment will be determined by the terms of the applicable program page and any written confirmation provided by Momentum. Requests made after a stated deadline, after the program has started, or after capacity has been committed may be denied. Submitting a cancellation request does not guarantee approval of any exception.

If Momentum cancels a session, event, or program, any refund, credit, rescheduling option, replacement session, or other remedy will be determined by Momentum based on the nature of the cancellation, the format of the program, and the applicable program terms. Unless required by the applicable terms or otherwise confirmed by Momentum in writing, a cancellation by Momentum does not automatically entitle a customer to a refund.

What is the weather policy?
Momentum Volleyball will operate if the facility for that specific program is open. If there is a permit cancellation or facility closure, customers will be notified by email as soon as possible regarding the affected date. Families should monitor email and use the program page for the most current update if weather or facility access is a concern.

What rules and instructions am I expected to follow?
By registering for or participating in a Momentum Volleyball youth program, customers are expected to follow the applicable program page, venue rules, staff instructions, safety requirements, and conduct standards. Failure to follow these requirements may result in removal from a session, loss of participation privileges, or other action at Momentum's discretion.

Can Momentum staff make decisions on site about safety, participation, or facility issues?

What else should I know about waiver and participation terms?
Participation may require acknowledgement of Momentum Volleyball's current waiver and related participation terms during online registration. Customers are responsible for completing all required registration materials before attending, and there is no additional paperwork to complete on site.

Am I responsible for my personal safety and belongings?
Customers are expected to participate only if they are physically able to do so safely, follow all safety instructions, and keep personal belongings secure. Customers should review the applicable waiver and participation terms before taking part.

May photos or videos be taken during programs?
Momentum's waiver states that photographs may be taken of participants or spectators and used for promotional purposes related to Momentum programs or events. Customers should review the current waiver if they have questions about photo or image-use terms.

Does this FAQ replace the program page or registration terms?
No. This FAQ is a general guide for common customer questions. If there is any difference between this FAQ and a specific program page, registration listing, waiver, venue rule, or direct written instruction from Momentum staff, the more specific or more recent direction should be followed.
